Lance-
I have written reams about using a good fuel injector cleaner on a regular
basis. If you don't regularly clean your fuel injectors, you will be
surprised at all of the quirky, annoying maladies that will disappear by
running a couple bottles through the system.
When the injectors are really fouled up, Chevron Techron(r) is like Drano,
it WILL unclog the gook. Buy the expensive bottle, around $10.00 for 12 oz.
Although we don't have Chevron stations in this part of the Earth, our auto
parts stores carry this stuff. Chevron also features some
"maintenance-level" Techron products for about $4.00, but I don't spend the
coin on these; I use STP or store brand stuff in the $1.75 range for
regular cleaning. Depending on useage/performance, I use a bottle every
4th-6th tank. I'm sure a bunch of folks on the list rely on FI cleaner at
least as often.

I replaced my fuel lines and injector seals today. Used the kit from
Van-Again. Very satisfied. Thanks Ken.
I am having problems with poor idle. Rich. Runs well under load. As part
of the clean up from my fuel line job I started the van (84 1.9L digijet).
It ran lousy, but started. I raced it up. It sounded better running fast.
After about 90 seconds I saw the problem. I FORGOT TO CONNECT HALF OF THE
INJECTORS !!! The two injectors on the drivers side were not connected
electrically. These things must be leaking seriously for the car to start
and idle. I will test all 4 per Bentley. I am thinking this may be why my
van idles rich but runs well under load.
What is the fix? Replacement is pricey ($46 ea for rebuilt from bus-boy).
Anybody recommend a fuel cleaner they are impressed with? I will change
the
fuel filter.
All suggestions welcome. Thanks.
