The simplest test I can think of (I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet)
it to try the starting procedure for gas operation, then go outside and see
if the flu vent is warm. This is the only "sure" way I can think of to
*quickly* determine if it is lit.
BTW, I am lucky, for some reason, my fridge always lights up on the first
try every time... :-) (So far)
