Had a great time at the Campbelltown, PA meet and met a bunch of List members
(around 8) along with several other Vanagon owners.  Here are the highlights:
1.  Started off in the morning loaded down with goodies and the van started
missing and bucking like crazy.  I had looked in the cap the day before and
knew it was shot and had ordered a replacement but it wouldn't arrive until
Monday ('91 year had two different caps listed!).  So when it started bucking
I knew what it was.  I went to the local supermarket (only thing open at 5
am) and got some carb cleaner.  Removed the ton of stuff sitting over the
engine compartment (Oh joy!) and removed and cleaned the cap.  The rotor was
toast so I replaced it with a spare I just happend to have (praise God!).
Put it all back together, put all the stuff back in and we are ready to go in
under a half an hour.  Van purred like a kitten the rest of the way up and
back from the show.
2.  Because of our mech problem didn't get to pick up Chris Turner as planned
(this leads to problems for him later on).
3.  Got to the show and there were at least 20 vendors there and a good
selection of show vehicles (No Vanagons though).  One really sweet 21 window
'67 bus that was red and white.  I had to tell the guy how sweet it was.  He
was a nice younger guy that had gotten the bus from California and said he
really didn't do any restoration to it.  Not an ounce of bondo anywhere and
it even smelled new!  Got my vote for "Best of show".
4.  Met a bunch of list members and I hestiate to list them and I will
probably leave some out.  Don, Ed, Mike, Mark Upton (5-cylinder conversion
almost done), and some others that I can't remember thier names right now.
5.  Met a fellow Limbo member named Jim with a sweet Turbo diesel Westie with
the 5-speed tranny.  His install was the cleanest I had ever seen and he was
loving the extra stomp of the turbo.
6.  Sold parts, installed my quad-round headlight grille kit on my Carat so
that folks could check it out (I did it in 10 mins but didn't wire anything
up).
7.  Talked to a guy behind me with a late model EV doublecab pickup TDI!  He
got it shipped over from Germany and he said the VW of USA didn't want it to
come over so it took 2 years and getting a couple of PA Senators involved
before they could get past customs.  Sweet truck and with the TDI getting 40
something mpg with nice power!
8.  Chris Turner tells me he is going home and I say "see ya later" without
thinking it could be for the last time.  It just shows you how short life is
and that you never know when your time is up on this earth.  Be prepared!
9.  Made it home safe and sound and didn't really think about it until Chris
called later.  Then I was more thankful for a safe trip.
It was great to meet more of you folks.  I enjoy meeting listmembers from
time to time and I haven't met one I didn't like yet.
