Michael,
First of all, you have to promise not to broadcast this place to the world
willy-nilly. That goes for the rest of you Westy-nauts, too. This is one
of my five most favorite places to stay, and happens to be just a few mile
from Puyallup.
Other than local Tacomites? (and darn few of even them), almost no one know
of this place.
The campground is in Kopachuck Sate Park, which is located within Gig
Harbor. It is a bit of a pain to get to, but I think that's part of the
charm of it. You travel through Tacoma and across the Tacoma Narrows bridge
to Gig Harbor. Ask a local how to get there, or, better yet, pick up a
Washington State Parks directory, which has specific directions.
If you have extra time while you're in the area, stop by the Point Defiance
Zoo in Tacoma and say "Hi" to the puffins for my wife. They make a
wonderful exhibit and, if you have a playful mind, will keep you and your
daughter occupied for quite a while.
Have fun and let me know if it worked out for you.
Karl Wolz
