Michael,
So you're saying I need a new O2 sensor on my Jetta once for every 15K -
20K miles since the factory maintenance interval is 30K? A break fluid
replacement every year? That is very good for cars but very costly and
time-consuming. I believe car owners should have a common sense that which
way is the best for themselves and cars. I change my oil once for every 6
months since that is easier for me to use Castrol GTX's with different
viscosity (20W50 or 10W40) before the summer or winter. Of course I'll
never exceed the factory recommendation if there is an unexpected event
like I drive a lot more within 6-month period then I'd change oil one extra
time in between.
If you look at Japanese cars, they don't even have maintenance interval
for O2 sensor. Just wait until it fails and replace a new one. From many
friends who own Japanese cars with many 10K miles, most of them have not
replace the O2 sensor yet.

A O2 sensors generally last only 30K to 60K? Then why Vanagon(88+) and EV
have maintenance interval of 90K? BTW, I thought emission warranty used
to be 5yr./50K. Has the Federal law changed?

A maintenance interval of 90K,,,,,,,,,, do you change your oil every 7500
miles? Every professional tech on VW and Audi will tell you to change it
every
60K. O2 sensors aren't covered under warranty after 2yr/24K. They are
considered a wear and tear item, like a spark plug. Emessions warranty is
8yr/80k for the CAT convertor and the engine ECU only.
