I just retrofitted a factory-refurbished Norcold 3163 into my '87 Westy and it has so far performed flawlessly -- significantly better than the old Dometic. Even got to below freezing! My only gripe is that the flame blows out when I drive -- no matter, I simply switch to DC while I'm driving and it keeps just as cold as propane. With 110VAC it gets cold in about 3 hours.
Thus, so far, my experience has been nothing but A+.
I'm very happy with the Norcold.
Sorry to hear you are having problems with yours.
I'll let you know if mine ever acts up.
NOTE: perhaps the factory-refurbished units are somehow "better" than stock?
Cheers,
MJS
