Cecil,
I have looked into replacing the stock cam with a custom one, but it was not recommended.
I spoke with a Webcam tech at length about this. This is what I found out.
The stock FI grind has a 2 degree overlap with steep ramps. If the overlap was increased,
it would cause the FI to run poorly. If the 1.4 ratio rockers were used with the
steep ramps valve damage would eventually happen due to the steep ramp. 1.25 were
therefore recommended to increase the lift and keep the valve train happy.
Plus if you change to three bolt cam the oil pump must be changed because the stock
is four bolt.
I plan to go with CB Performance's 1.25 rhino rockers and feet with a solid rocker
arm.
I have found a muffler that I think will work out good for the and fit in the stock
location. It is a DynoMax SuperTurbo #17783. It is a 6" round muffler that has
a length of 18" muffler with a total length of 22.75"(cost of $58). I also added
Bosch triple electrode ($3.55 each). I should have it running this weekend.
I did not want to go with a "flow thru" muffler because the bottom end would suffer
due to lack of back pressure and extreme noise.
I'll let you know what it sounds like.
