Hi all,

Here's something that might have a bearing on email issues... I pointed out to Roy that it's gerry, not jerry, but that was just a typo in his message, not the address his ISP's having problems with.

So, a mail server has a Domain Name Service Mail eXchanger record, eg:

gmail.com. 3600 IN MX 20 alt2.gmail-smtpin.l.google.com. ...

vanagon.com has one: vanagon.com. 14400 IN MX 5 alt1.aspmx.l.google.com. ...

but gerry.vanagon.com does not. It should fall back to the A record: gerry.vanagon.com. 14400 IN A 74.96.232.10

(Which, interestingly enough is a Verizon/HEITECH SERVICES FTTP IP address, not Google.)

I wouldn't be surprised if this is causing some of the email problems we see. Can somebody who manages the DNS for gerry add an MX record?
