Hi friends,
Several Vanagon List friends offered to help me bring our new van home from Florida.
It turned out the Van is located only 20 miles from Denis’s Florida home!
But, it was very important to pick up the van from it’s previous family before they left. I think we both felt it was important for this van to change caretakers in person.
these vans have karma and this new one to me certainly has that and lots of stories as well.
List member and amazing friend Tom Bues offered early on to fly to Florida with me and after looking at the timing and such This was the right solution.
Funny thing is I think both our wives are happy to see us go on an adventure and didn’t jump right in to join us!
Now, any list members from Florida to Vermont up for a driveway camping visitor?
Any Vanagon camping events happening in southern states the weekend of April 22?
Dennis was totally up for helping me drive the van home! The timing looks like that will be too early I think.
Tom and I can just Mosey home!
Eric

Hey Eric. I'll help drive back from Florida. We just have to get there. Maybe Dennis would be interested. He is used to driving to Florida, and a Westy back would be heaven for a nap. Not only that, but he can tell you lots about your new ride after the drive home. We'll pick him up on the way down.
By the way. You Lucky Son of a Gun!! An '84 Florida well kept second owner Westy. Next you will tell me they lived in Nevada when not in Florida. Folks dream about that.
I am so jealous. But it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Tell Heidi I agree about the manual tranny thing. I wouldn't go any other way unless I run into someone like your Florida friend and they offer me a pristine automatic Westy cheap.
Have Fun;

I don’t ever want to be without a vW bus!
While my van was being updated I was without a van.
When I start projects I feel pressure as I can take a long time to finish and the van can be out of commission.
The solution?
Hve a second van!
The stars aligned and a 84 Westfalia with 2.1 GW engine and well appointed for travel was offered and to my surprise my wife said yes!
The previous owners are amazing folks and the second owners. I’m proud to take on it’s care.
It is basically ready for the road though I’ll want to do a few updates.
This van is standard and wife Heidi is very happy about that.
The karma is right and the magic there so now we just need to figure out how to get it from Florida to Vermont!
And, I hope you folks are ready for a flood of more questions and observations!
