When I got my camper (original waterboxer, 1991, 130K miles) it exhibited
the "hiccups" that have been called "Vanagon syndrome." That is, when
starting off from a stop, it would act as if it was going to stall, and
sometimes at highway speed, it would do the same, then pick back up. all
seemingly ok.
Tuned everything to spec, returned timing to spec, fuel mix to spec. Nary
a hiccup since, 50K miles later.
