I had the mold issue. Bought a van from oregon.. My mold was so bad I had
to take the pop top off which isnt difficult. Then I used bleach and a
little Dr bonners and big old scrub brush and brushed the heck out of it
for a few hours and hosed it all out. The mold gets all in that foam
lining on the pop top and it doesn't come out eady. It was nasty as all
heck. I couldn't have cleaned it that effectively with the pop top still on
the van. It's been a few yeads with no reoccurrence. If you store the van
make sure you remove the bed from the top to prevent mold reoccurring after
you clean it. Good luck peace tom

surface of the inside of a Westy pop-top. I started using a home brew of
chlorine bleach and Simple Green. That worked well enough (although I
should have been wearing a respirator. For the mold, not the bleach (it
was dilute enough and I had the slider open)). I was careful (I think at
least) of not getting any on the pop top canvas.
A friend recommended some stuff called "Concrobium" that is a proprietary
mixture of tri-sodium phosphate and washing soda (sodium carbonate). I was
going to make my own home brew of that, but then bought some at a big-box
hardware store. It was in the paint department not the cleaning supplies
department. It seemed to work well also although it seemed like I got
better spot removal with the bleach.
I tried white vinegar also without too much success. I bought some other
mold stuff (cheaper than the Concrobium) and wiped almost every interior
surface I could. I fixed the water leak in the rear hatch region and
haven't had any recurrence.
A person with some paint store experience that I trust also said that
bleach can be safely mixed with tri-sodium phosphate. So that's another
potential home brew combo.
But I used a scrub brush with both and as I am rehabbing a shoulder injury
I was pretty worn out. I might go back and hit some discolored spots
again. Reviews of the Concrobium indicate that some people get further
results with more treatments.
