I had high the early and later model westy tank and skid plate in my workshop for a while. The later model skid plate did not fit on the tabs of the early model tank. Ti be honest on both tanks the tabs aren't that precisely aligned.
I think I have pics of the skid plates if you are interested.
The later model skid plate hangs maybe 1/2" lower and that might make the difference in getting the fill nozzle in. I have had issues with my early model tank at some stations. I've come across two different nozzle types, one longer then the other. The locking ring on one of the nozzle types was in a position that interfered with the skid plate.
So to eliminate issues, I enlarged the half moon cut out on the skid plate to allow bit nozzle types to access the fill.
And then later I made an aluminum skid plate and enclosure that had a large cut out for same reason.
