Subject:      Trip Report and stunning mechanic find !

Just back after our trip around Lake Superior, down Michigan and the Lake
Huron trail. Absolutely amazing country. iwould recommend this trip to
ANYBODY who enjoys nature, the outdoors and amazing people. We stayed at a
mixture of National, State and town campsites. The criteria for a campsite
was trees, water and beach :) This gave us a good mixture of amenities and
allowed us to shower and wash clothes every now and then :) We also swam in
every river, stream and lake we stopped at.

Only one issue in the '82 stock 1.6 NA Diesel. We blew a muffler that was a
bit of a botch job from the original owner and I had been a bit lazy in
changing. However, we pulled into Ironwood, MI, and found European Car
Sales and Service. Actually, we had been told by a Minike about 40 miles
away to go to Ironwood and as we drove in Hwy 2 we spotted a lot full of
VWs, Vanagons, Westfalias, bugs, Jettas, everything !

Eric is the owner there and fixed us up with no issues at all. However, in
chatting with him, it turns out that what we could see is just a fraction
of the vehicles and parts that he has ! He is starting to sift through his
collection and is starting to post on TheSamba,
