I think we are talking about different bags. You spoke of your bag as being from GoWesty. Mine were bought directly from Watershed, and are not marketed as automotive cargo bags. They are marketed mainly to canoeists and rafters as dry bags, but they open and close along the length of the bag somewhat like a giant "zip lock baggy" rather than rolling down from one end. Getting the knack of how to properly open and close them takes a bit of practice, but they really keep the water out. I drove through really heavy downpours on Raton Pass and in Wyoming without getting my stuff wet.
