The carbed version of the XJ6 is pretty nasty all right.
The EFI version has to be better.
I once saw the 'climate control' unit in that carbed XJ6 my friend
owned. ..
a huge box about 10 X 1- inches, with big gears in it ...
just impossibly large and mechanical ...
Humorous, how archaic looking it was.
Got to give big points for the design of the XJ6 though.
Read a whole long story one time about how Sir William Lions had a great
eye for just the right line .
That article said he'd take his best panel beaters out behind the shop
and start shaping metal until it looked just right.
Some of the best looking cars ever made ..
the 'feline' looking Jags of those days.
Shapes gain in their purity as the years go by. You could not change one
line by a quarter inch and make that car shape better..so 'pure and
honest' is the shape.
Same for other cars too ..the 300SL for example...just visual
perfection.
here's another quiz ....matter of opinion of course, and ..
what is the All Time Best post-war American car design ?
The best looking, most iconic, most 'pure american' car design or shape
? And sexy too.
Especially if counting only cars after WWII.
