This is tough.
I just recently have gone that route, more or less. After eight years, I
lost my lease-hold property that had a nice air conditioned garage with
it. I could do most anything there. But - I found that I really needed
to downsize, and my son offered the opportunity to move in with him for
a while, sock away some money, and grow a new business at the same time.
Golden opportunity. But - he lives in a really hilly and ritzy area - no
street side oil changes or car maintenance. Anything beyond the
occasional car wash in the driveway is frowned upon in the neighborhood.
The street in front of his place is steeply down hill, and his driveway
is steep - right up to the garage. And the place is old - and the garage
so low, that when the door is open, the door operating arm hangs down
far enough I can't get my van inside. This is really a problem for me
with my lifestyle which involves the upkeep on three vans. So far, I
have stored one van in a secure storage facility, and I try and keep one
parked at work and one to drive back and forth with - swapping out
occasionally. But no place offers much of a place to work. I'm still
looking.
