Just went looking...
http://www.floridasturnpike.com/all-electronictolling/ is the Florida
Turnpike system, they have options besides the pre-paid Sunpass
The Miami-Dade expressway is just one of them -
https://www.gomdx.com/olcsc/home/showFaq.do It looks like the Sunpass
or the $3 fee EACH time.
>>If you do not have a SunPass account and drive on the MDX roads, a
photo will be taken of your license plate at each tolling point
(where you see the overhead structures & signs). This is called
Toll-By-Plate. MDX will then send an invoice (fee assessed) to the
registered owner of the vehicle. Toll-By-Plate fees range from 15 to
25 cents per toll and a $3.00 invoice fee. <<
15 cent toll & $3 invoice fee!
The Tampa-Hillsborough is another,
https://www.tampatolls.com/olcsc/ it looks like they bundle their
fees and the Sunpass will work
Out here in Washington State they just started electronic tolling on
a floating bridge, it's either prepay for a transponder or the toll
plus fees by mail. If you register the licence plate ahead of time
the fees are smaller. No cash option.
The ferries still take cash or credit/debit and height restrictions
will get you higher rates, I have heard of people pulling the kayak
AND the roof rack off the Vanagon for the ferry trip to get the
regular rates. A trailer costs you extra.
Anyone know how the Illinois toll roads are working these days? Coins
still work? The last time I went over the San Francisco Bay Area
bridges cash still worked but it was a per axle thing so trailer
will cost you more
