To answer the question: I stitched the fabric just to the edge of the seams, but I did not cover the areas that had hooks so you can still see a bit of of the tannish-brown original material. I wish I could take a photo because I think this would be easier seen than explained, but the van's still at the mechanic's. I did a loose stitch every 1/4 inch or less all along the edge. No second set eyes were needed. I'm a bit confused by the question, but I will be picking up the van this weekend, so I can take a photo of a one to explain if needed... just let me know :)
