Subject: oil pressure buzzer-SOLVED
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"
First of all thanks to all that responded to my issue and led me to the
problem. I checked the wire going to the oil pressure switch and it was
connected and no insulation scraped away or any iffy spots in the wire. I looked
again at the 2 point connector with a better light and saw what should have
been shiny copper was a bit green-the AHAH moment! I scraped some of this
corrosion off and tried to get in there with a small piece of sandpaper
over a small screwdriver blade and then sprayed with some electrical cleaner
and fired her up. Got the RPM's up over 2200 and no buzzer or light! Really
glad to not be changing that sensor as looks like it could be a PITA to
access. I really was hoping to clean that connector a bit better using my new
snap on connector tool (red handle one). Does anyone on the list know how I
can use this 6-way tool to get the spade out of the plastic connector. I
don't know from which side I need to go in or whether to use the little fork
on the male spade or the narrow blade on the female. That may be hard to
explain with words but I don't want to damage anything or use the wrong
approach or amount of force. Just want to get it really clean so this doesn't
cause any more near coronaries from the buzzer. Thanks again list for all
the help. Now back to the AC issue in a separate post.
