Subject: oxygen sensor input wire
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"
Just a question after some research of the archives. I feel that my green
O2 sensor input wire (sending voltage to the ECU) is shorting to the
grounded shileding in places from deteriorating insulation. I plan on replacing
the sensor itself soon and am thinking about replacing the cable also. The
archives have several listees stating that unshielded cable should work okay
so long as there is no EMI in the vicinity of the cable (I'm concerned
about possible interference from the coil). I am wondering if anyone has
replaced this cable and if so where did you find this small gauge coax type
cable? How far did you go with the cable and did you spice it into a good
section of the original near the ECU? A far fetched idea that I had recently
when installing a Sirius radio in my Dad's Honda was that the shielded
satellite antenna cable would be a close match if the center wire was stranded.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated as always.
