Dear Mercedes & Tom with leaky rad
ok lets say you need to do these things cause it is much easier to repair in
then morning ...
have you placed a container under the machine to collect the drips ...
a simple drip can be 5 gallons over night ..
do you have or does the camp ground have a spill kit to mop up ... grey pads
soaks up antifreeze
have you away to keep camp ground dogs and cats form sipping the delicious
anti freeze ...
do you have tripple A auto so you can get towed to the place that does
repairs if you can not do your self
ok do you have a bently with you ... to be able to follow directions ...
if coming from front there are a number of suggestions one can make about
remote location but day light is best to inspect
day light with a flashlight and safety glasses (so you dont get a drip in
the eye )
inspect where the leak is coming from ...
hose or core of rad ...
are there any drips on the floor of the inside of the cab ... (that would *
suggest* heater core failure)
if from a hose is it hose failure or hose clamp failure ??
if it appears the leak is from the body of the rad ...
remove the grill covers (follow bently instructions if you are new at this)
look on face of read where the leak appears to be coming from ...
hey maybe somebody installed a relief valve on the head of the rad and you
are getting pressure relief which would suggest an over heating over
pressure problem
maybe the square headed brass threaded plug is simply loose and letting
coolant out ...
if you do not have a bently ... call me at 1.604.414.6266 and i will read my
bently to you ...
my bet is someone is likely very close to you who can help ... right on the
ground ...
if it is a rad problem ... pepper will sort out things well enough to get to
repair shop and may even cure temporaily till you get to wrecker to pick up
different rad
maybe some one has one they can fed ex to you
good luck guys ....
