Wow, one of the South Africans chimed in! Thanks Brenton. Most unexpected
to have someone on the Vanagon list who is supposed to be on the Microbus
list. Haha.
Now, we believe that the Microbus is very little different from our
Vanagons. Not only that the sliding door is on the other side, on the left
side, but I think maybe the sizes of the windows may differ slightly. Now
we can find it out from Brenton if he makes measurements and we would match
it to ours.
Brenton maybe able to find out what happened to those dies that stamped out
those Microbus parts in Port Elizabeth or wherever and maybe our industrious
group would be willing to bring them over and stemp out a few more thousand
Vanagons here to have 2010 models and newer ones.
We may also have a deeper insight about all those kind of engines that are
used in those Microbuses, because we only have the 1.9L and the 2.1L engines
here. Not mentioning all the Subaru and whatever variations.
Also, we may have some connection through Brenton to find five speed
"gearboxes" transmissions from there for reasonable prices if its a group
purchase. Who knows.
We are always hopeful and optimistic.
Welcome Brenton.
Zoltan
I don't even ask 'how is the weather' in South Africa. It's always very
pleasant summer there.

OK, that's right. Would it be correct to say that Ottinger for Vanagons
is
the same as AMG for Mercedes-Benz.

Oettinger is nothing like Eddie Bauer... Oettinger is a tuning shop,
whereas Eddie Bauer is a trim level offered on Ferds.
