We've always wanted to see Newfoundland, but we already have travel plans set for this summer. Maybe next year.

Subject: interested in taking your van to the Rock next summer?
The far east vanagon contingent (well, okay, the far east of North America)
met over coffee in St. John's on Monday, and mulled over the possibility of
a vanagon gathering in July at Gros Morne National Park. Gros Morne is a
stunning place on the rugged western coast of Newfoundland, a world heritage
site, a place with geological features found nowhere else in the world, the
only fjord in North America, and just a great place to be. As, of course,
is all of Newfoundland.
So I volunteered to send out a trial balloon, and see if there would be
folks interested in coming if we organized it.
Here's the trial balloon floating your way... (courtesy of

there!)

Yes, you DO have to take a boat to get here. But since Gros Morne is on the
west side of the island it's the short boat ride instead of the long one.
Not as pricey, no need to pay for a berth, and the fuel surcharges are way
down these days. Tim Horton's right near the ferry at both ends. In July
there's NO chance you'll get stuck in the ice in Sydney Harbor, like I did
in February. No chance of snowstorms on the way up to Gros Morne, or
Wreckhouse winds to blow you and your van right off the road. Nice long
days up here in the north. Easy stealth camping on the way there. Moose
wandering around your van in the night. Newfies wandering around your van
in the night. What more could you ask for????
If you think you might be interested, please do let me know!
If you think you might be interested, but it's too long a trip to organize
for this summer, please let me know that!
I'm looking forward to my inbox just overflowing with enthusiasm!
Joy
and Matilda, who really needs the company of some other vanagons!
