74 is not so bad. If you take the replace the dual carbs with a Weber
progressive, it's great. Power when you need it, and good MPG, simple to
work on. Good sized access door above engine. Front disc brakes.
I inherited mine when the PO got too close to the edge of a graded road, and
rolled over twice going down the embankment. Scared him, so he gave it
away. I fiberglassed the cracks in the Westy top and kept on going.
It sure is nice to have such a simple motor. The Vanagons are nice, but
their complexity is definitely a trade off.
