As for Contouring or Flat. If it will be solely used for sleeping then Flat is the way to go. If you feel the need to contour then I recommend if using sheet foam
is use 3 inch base with 1 inch topper. Between the 3 and 1 inch lay in 1/2 inch to 1inch medium firm blocks of foam. Glue them in place. 1 in center and 2
outboard. Lay the 1 inch topper on and glue down. This will give a nice contour. Dont just glue it to the top of the foam you will feel the edges and in wont
feel as nice. stacking is the only way to go.

BTW hopefully your using a Medium Firm to firm memory foam or it will just be fluff and no real support.
