When my crankshaft seal failed it did so by going from no leak to a
major leak in relatively few miles taking the clutch disk with it. It
also filled my starter with oil (I found out later).
I would certainly replace that seal when you redo the clutch.
I dropped the tranny for a new clutch and engine seal and found the seal
had become hard and brittle. As for the "Do it while you're there"
stuff, I also replaced the transmission shaft seal and the clutch fork
bushings (among other things).
