One of the main advantages of Lead acid batteries is that properly handled,
they are almost 100% recyclable. The plastic case is easily separated from
the lead after "smelting" and the electrolyte is processed to make more.

Just curious...
I understand that disposing of batteries improperly is a pretty poor
thing...AND there are those that would say that this approach of possibly
going thru more batteries would harm the environment...
However, when you return a battery to the store, don't they recycle them to
a good extent? I am curious because I would rather pay a bit more money for
a battery knowing that I am doing the "right thing"...if it truly IS a right
thing...
Are there more credible recyclers than others? I'm thinking of the big guys
like StuffMart and others...
