Subject: Seam Sealant - What Brand is best? What is the best documented
procedure and process?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1"
Hello Everyone,
I am about to repair my seams which have a little rust. The previous owner
used some seam sealer which I can see for the most part is well intact by
they did not use it where the common rust spots were so I need to repair it.
I was planning on sanding all the rust down to bear metal and then using
POR15 to coat the metal, then using the Seam Sealant over that, sanding it
smooth and then repainting it with some touch up paint. Is this the correct
process?
I found that 3M sells several different types of Professional grade
auto-body seam sealants, does anyone know which is best? I also know that
SEM makes seam sealant as well. I just thought the collective experience of
the group and these products might yield some more upstate information than
what is in the archives.
