Boy, I'll say. I need to subtract 10 to 12% of the indicated value to
determine the actual value (as determined by GPS and confirmed by using
a stopwatch and those handy [but rare out here] mileage markers on the
highway placed there for odo checking).

I lucked out: according to those aforementioned odometer check mileage
markers on the highway, our 1.9l's odo is spot-on.
