Good points. I told my uncle for years he should get a beater instead of putting 60-
80k per year on his '89 Westy with his 2 hour commute. Now with nearly 600k on it
now, he is facing some serious seam rust even with his fastidious cleaning and
waxing. He did finally get a beater a few years ago and started garaging the van in
the winter. On the fastener and never sneeze - I spent a few hours total removing the
'82 bumper, brackets, and hitch. Broke almost half of the bolts even after soaking for
days in Lig Wrench. Snapped off one of the welded captive nuts inside the bumper
bracket, requiring me to cut open the bracket and weld a new nut on (did both while I
was there). Snapped two of the 13mm nuts from bumper to bracket also. After that
ordeal, I *did* use never sneeze when putting it all back together last night!
