Frank,
2002 passat and this is 2004 and it has been
trouble free. Give yourself a few years before you
start suggesting a car as it is still under warrenty.
I stand by my statement, buy a honda or toyota unless
you want to work on the car yourself as you will work
or pay to have work done on this passat. Any year but
they are fun to drive. regards gary

Have a '02 Passat bought new. Do all my own service.
Has been totally reliable, no problems, good power
(1.8T engine).
Comfortable for long distance trips. Haven't spent any
money on the car
other
than for normal maintenance.

Thanks to all who responded to my question regarding
weird dragging
noises
upon braking and accelerating. It was the front
brakes =8B pads were
worn
down. I=B9ve now replaced them and all is well.
