Just an additional thought: GoWesty sells headlight lense protectors, which
is a clear, stick-on plastic covering already cut to fit the lenses (all 4
of them). About $40.00.
From their site ad: "StonGard's own special formulated vinyl is over 1/16"
thick, soft and flexible for absorbing most impacts. Each piece is precut
perfectly by computerized
equipment. Installs in just a few minutes. For both low and high beams."
I've got a set on the way now. I saw them on Richard Jones' van at Syncro
Safari '04 and they seem to me to be the ticket. He said he's had them on
his '88 911 for several years and they are still working well, not
discolored, very serviceable. They are here: http://tinyurl.com/5t37c
I'd probably also suggest dabbing a small amount of clear silicone sealer in
the pin hole prior to putting these on. These clean up real well by removing
them, washing them out, letting them dry.
