Your '85 instrument cluster wiring harness cluster is missing wire #12. The
'86 and older Vanagons use this wire for the oil pressure alarm circuitry.
Run a ground to the #12 terminal of the harness, like Ken mentioned, and the
alarm should stop.
If you can't read the numbers on the harness this how the '85 wires are
ordered.
