Ok Bob, you did yours wrong also. That explains why you are burning up
headlight switches now that you have added more lights. Frank needs to
make the installation instructions clearer I guess. The correct wires
are inside a black plastic sleeve in the area nearest the dimmer switch.
That makes it less obvious which wires to use though I don't understand
why 2 guys would think it ok to splice into wires that are clearly the
wrong colors and way too small to be the headlight wires.
Mark, thank you. Since I'm not a technical writer my directions may have
some ambiguity to some readers. BUT, like Marks says, I clearly state that the
wires that need to be accessed are 12 gauge white and yellow wires. If you
cut into other wires then that's your error. The only reason I say to remove
the lower steering wheel cover is so that when trying to locate the wires
near the fuse/relay panel where the cut should be made, is so that you can
trace the ends to the dimmer switch to insure you've found the proper wires
BEFORE cutting and making a mistake. There is absolutely no need to cut the black
casing of these wires up near the switch as this is not the proper location
for the splice to have enough wire left to reach the relays. Read my
directions carefully, copied below..........
<<Remove the plastic cover from the underside of the steering column, two
screws and spring clipped in place, to expose the wiring to the turn
signal/dimmer switch. Locate the 12 ga. white and yellow wires leading to the switch.
Follow these two wires back to the fuse block. Cut these two wires so that the
four resulting wire ends will reach the relay sockets.>>
