Barry,
I had called him and I was hoping to go there on Sunday, but it didn't
work out. I was visiting friends in the UP, and one of their friends
works at customs in the Sault, but he had to work all weekend and I
didn't get to ask him about buying a car there.
I did some research about buying a car and bringing it to the US, but I
don't have everything figured out yet. Basically, I need to be able to
show that the vehicle conforms to US standards for emission and stuff.
I'm sure it does, but I'm not sure how to show it. The web site said
"contact the manufacturer". I called VW, but they said they could not
legally help in an across border sale. So, I'm kind of stuck right now.
I need to do some more research, then make real plans to go there with
another driver to drive it back, if I decide to buy it. I need to do
the banking stuff too, which means I should probably go during the week.
So, he replaced the odometer? Are you pretty confident in his mileage
assessment? It sounds great.
I did a Kelly Blue Book thing, and in US dollars it comes to $6,420, as
shown here:

I think $15,000 Canadian would be about $10 - $11,000 US or so, so maybe
it's priced a little high? What do you think?
Thanks for any and all information! - Duane
