This is probably the case . One of the tubes of grease could have been
inferior or wrong type.
Who sells CV joints and for how much? I think I will replace it new unless
the other used ones I have are OK.
I have a full lube gun of CV joint grease.

It is likely that someone repacked your cv joint, but
used axle grease instead of cv joint grease. CV Joint
grease has this wonderful property of clinging to
metals so it stays on as you drive. You will notice
that there is nothing on either side on the cv joint
to keep the grease in...
If you put on high quality cv joint grease, it will
last for years. But I would remove, clean, and repack
every three years or so.
