Hi Jessica
I have this book in german. On the cover of the book,
you see an air-cooled van with the front luggage rack
installed, and a big hole on the roof with the other
fiberglass part rested on the side of the van, waiting
to be installed.
Unfortunately, I dont see the rest of the job inside.
there is no pictures on how to install the upper bed
from a junk westy (That's what i'm doing). Neither
there is measurements for that. The information must
be in the text, and I cannot read german. They do show
some roof support that you need to fabricate to
reinforce the roof. So from there you build your own
upper bed I guess.
If you need measurements to build yourself all the
interior cabinets, then this book is for you. Lots of
pictures, drawings and measurements. Different ideas
for different needs. Very interesting. You also see
conversions from Europe like dehler-profi (just
droool). These links are not in the book:
www.dehler-profi.de
www.dehlermobile.de
But if you want real information about a pop-top
conversion with the upper bed, you better follow the
instructions in the second web site mentionned by
BenT.
I am in the process of doing such a conversion WITH
the help from a friend that owns his bodyshop (a
must). It should be done by Christmas. I WILL take
pictures of the work.
Ho yeah, there is another link that I found last week.
It's on a belgium web site written in french. I
actually gave him the links for Karl bloss and the
other guy's web site. And he has a plan with
measurements on acrobat reader for the pop-top. If My
memory is good, I think it's a plan for the westfalia
company to indicate the bolts location and such...
So here is the link: www.westfalia.be.tf, then clic on
"telechargement" on the side menu, then clic on "un
plan de montage pour le toit relevable westfalia". For
some reason I cannot see the plan from home right now
(very old computer) but from work it was perfect.
Anyway, hope it helps.

Jessica,
Rather than go that route, why don't you study the two
webpages listed
