Subject: [info] stock temp guage & vdo guage (coolant)???
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"
--After searching the archives and coming up empty handed, I have resorted to posting for some help/info.--
I have acquired some vdo gauges and would like to install them in the van. I would like to run both the original coolant temp gauge and a vdo 150 degree Celsius gauge for the coolant temp. I would assume that I cannot use the original sender to run both gauges as it would change the resistance of the signal received. I have been able to unplug the temp sender wire from the multi-pin plug that connects to the instrument cluster and connect it to the vdo gauge and get what seems to be a fairly accurate reading ( when the rad fan comes on the vdo gauge reads 90+ degrees Celsius/195 degrees Fahrenheit. To me the vdo gauge seems fairly true to the calibration of the original sender...
Does anyone have any normal a operating temperatures from an infrared thermometer at the thermostat?
Has anyone an aftermarket gauge installed along with the original gauge?
Any help, tips, hints or suggestions would be greatly welcomed.
cheers
Ken
