Aloha Grungy! There are a few of us. You will find myself
and Mick Kalber in Hilo; he has an 89 Syncro Westy and a I'm
currently driving an 88 Westy while I work the bugs out prior to
adding to the rental fleet. (My daily driver changes daily)..
Drive over to Hilo for a chat.....
You should be able to ship any car- new or used, for the $800
fee and nothing else. They try to charge $1200 for campers because
they have a stove and bed- but if you remove the stove, they will
waive the fee. Silly rules. I have also heard of people getting
around the dealer shipping charges by ordering a car over the
internet, but I have no details on that... but Matson Shipping has a
set fee schedule and they aren't interested in where you purchased
your car and where you intend to use it.
Most of my fleet is out right now, but if you need a camper
for a few days, let me know-
Shawn
