I've been having the same problem lately, when it's
been quite cold in the mornings (for N.Cal anyway).
What I've noticed is if I end up sitting in traffic,
the temp. gauge moves up to its normal position (and
eventually above normal, when the fan kicks in to
bring it back down again). Based on that, I figured
it is probably the t'stat and not the sensor, but
haven't had a chance to look at it yet. Don't know if
the fact that both heads are leaking coolant a bit has
anything to do with it....
