Subject: Where do I go next!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"
I am well on the way to get my westy on the road, to bring everybody up to
date. I purchase 1982 Diesel Westy that the PO had trucked in from CA. It
has been parked for 5 years. I have got the new hoses and Sierra Antifreeze
(no phosphate) to change the antifreeze. I have gotten the radiator repaired
and it is waiting installation into vehicle. I have drained the fuel tank
and got fresh diesel into tank. I have a new fuel filter purchased and ready
to install.( I am waiting to run several gallons of diesel through the old
one first). I have Rotella 15-40 oil purchased and Mann oil filters ready to
go. I am waiting for the weather to warm up to get to work! I have replaced
the windows that were broken and she is water tight now. While I was going
through the papers the PO gave me, I found the paperwork and receipts
indicating that a new motor was installed less than 1k miles ago!!! He had
over $ 3600.00 worth of work done 6 months before he moved and just parked
it. Now I had thought of replacing the timing belt, but with so little miles
on it should I? Or does having set for so long make it dangerous to run it
with the old belt! On a side note- I also have an air filter to replace. I
purchased all my supplies from THE BUS DEPOT and have been very happy with
the service. Well any other suggestions from this point on would be a help!
Does it look like I have my bases covered!
