Hi Jim,
If the clutch is slipping, it's worn out. You seem to have the opposite
problem. you cannot get your clutch to release. Sounds like a worn
cylinder (either) or air has somehow gotten into the system, and instead of
moving fluid when you depress the pedal, you are compressing air in the
line.
On the other hand, I always get confused by these sort of things.
