You might already know this, but justincase....

FYI - If you have a decent stereo deck, it will have a
set of pre-amp outputs for your subwoofer.  Those take
RCA cables.  Most amps (necessary for running a
subwoofer with any sort of desired effect) have RCA
inputs.  You want to have the least amount of wire
possible from amp to sub for best clarity, so you want
to have the amp mounted somewhere in the rear of the
vehicle.  RCA cables won't fit up the a-pillar, or
behind the upper racks, so it takes some engineering
to wire an amp in the back.

How i had to wire my westy:  My stereo deck did not
have a specific setup for subwoofers like some upper
end decks do, but it did have a set of pre-amps.  I
had to wire the "remote" (tells the amp to turn on) to
the power antenna wire on the deck.  Those wires come
down under the drivers feet and connect to the 12v
power wire right in front of the cabinets behind the
drivers seat.  The power wire runs to the battery
through a small hole in the batty box, under the
walkthrough carpet and connects as above.  This whole
mess of wires runs behind all the cabinetry.
Depending where you want to put your sub, there is a
multitude of places where the wires can come out of
the cabinets in the back.  Mine are in the box under
the seat.  The amp is grounded under the seat (not
nec. to run a ground to the front).
